The final round of the 2013 Avon Tyres Historic Formula Ford Championship was run over the weekend of 23rd and 24th March under perfect weather conditions and with 18-cars taking the starters orders, including Peter Boel with his beautifully restored Lotus 51 on debut.
Whilst the top two positions in each division were mathematically sewn up before the weekend, the remaining places were still all up in the air, and a well raced weekend by Michael Clark enabled him to take home runner-up honours in Class One by a slim 3-points over Graeme Cameron (563 to 560).
Runner up in Class II went to Lindsay Porter, and Tony Graham took third.
The cake winners, aka Series Champions in each class were Dave Silverton in Class One, and Phil Foulkes (with the key assistance of Kim Crocker) in Class Two.
It has been a season that has seen times at Hampton Downs tumble down, with Tony Graham and Graeme Cameron now consistently in the 1:10’s, and consistently finishing every race they enter together within a half second of the other.
The rest of the pack has basically become a freight train, with times ranging from 1:13 to 1:16, and everyone nose to tail every lap. Great stuff!
